Fort Sill and its seven surrounding counties have an average of more than one winter storm disrupting postal services each year. With the late opening here on November 17th and winter still a month away, the post is already average.

The effects of severe weather range from short-term partial closures to partial closures lasting two or more days.

When winter weather hits the post, Soldiers, DA citizens and contractors will be notified by the Fort Sill Mass Warning and Notification System called AtHoc, said Ken Ray, executive branch director of plans, training, general and chief executive officer.

AtHoc software notifies all registered users via email, SMS and telephone system about important events in the mail, e.g. B. Weather Delays. Late reports include employee reporting times and door closures.

Fort Sill employees must register with AtHoc to receive newsletters. To register personally on the work PC desktop, in the lower right corner is the up arrow, click on it and right-click on the purple ball. Select "Update my information". Here, users can provide relevant information including their neighborhood and place of residence. The Device tab allows users to provide work, home, phone, page, and SMS numbers, as well as email addresses (work and home).

Ray said he has multiple contact methods because if the user just sends their work email and accesses your PC, the pop-up message goes away.

If you're home thinking about long-term closures or closures, you can find some official announcements on Fort Sill's intranet home page, Ray says.

Weather reports are also broadcast on Lawton's KSWO TV Channel 7, as well as on local radio stations. These billboards are a secondary advertising source, he says.

Patients should follow the guidelines on the Fort Sill website, the Fires Center of Excellence Facebook page and RACH Facebook, and check for updates, said Cathy Rhodes, RACH marketing and education specialist. A RACH staff member will be in touch with patients to reconcile missed appointments.

The Urgent Care Clinic is only open for emergencies. RACH does not have an emergency room, so patients requiring emergency care must go to the local emergency room.

Road conditions are determined by the Director of Emergency Operations and reported to the Fort Sill Emergency Management Center. The EOC shares this information with employees everywhere.

AMBER. Warning driving conditions are on the shelf. Roads are very wet or ice clings to intersections, bridges, or roads.

Corvia's Military Living is responsible for removing snow and ice from its facilities. You won't see much of that kind of weather here in Fort Sill. It's a very pleasant place to be in western Oklahoma most of the year. The main thing is the high summer heat and humidity. On average, spring and autumn are very happy, there are not many problems for daily life and work. In the winter it gets cold but doesn't drop below freezing except for a short time from January to February, although most of the time you only have to worry about the mornings. You can have between 9 and 14.5 hours of daylight throughout the year. The sun usually rises between 06:30 and 08:00. Many beautiful days here, no rain, no significant snow.

Fort Sill Housing & Information

Spring temperatures in Fort Sill range from the 40's to the 60's. The highs range from the low 30s to the high 80s, but you won't see these numbers most of the time. It is usually cold during the day and chilly in the mornings and evenings, with warmer days in mid-April. Spring is covered by cloud cover about 50% of the time. Cloudiness is generally low and does not affect daylight, although 30% of days are overcast and grey. Rainfall is consistent throughout spring, starting at just 20% in April and rising to 30% in the summer months. Fort Sill receives about 4 inches of rain throughout the season. There is not much humidity, there are only a few days close to summer when it is very humid.

Summer is a different story. Temperature and humidity increases occur suddenly and can cause problems. In the high season, the average temperature rises between 73 and 96 degrees. It doesn't get much cooler than that, even if it gets hot in the 100's. Humidity is an important factor and most days are spent surrounded by strong, heavy air. Sometimes it's really sad. On some days, it hits the other end of the spectrum, providing a much-needed boost from the habit of standing up and sweating. The evenings get hot, don't let it be the middle of the night so be prepared to sleep or drink without a blanket. Surprisingly, the cloud cover is not much different from the previous season, so some dark days can be helped by the sun.

Autumn in Fort Sill begins with temperatures falling below average, with average lows in the 50's to 80's. While it's still getting hot, being outside in the middle of the day just gets better with time. You will find it colder in the mornings when you wake up in October. Rainfall is about 20% during the fall months, with less than 3 inches of rain per month. Daylight decreases from 12 hours to less than 10. Sunrise occurs most days from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The humidity will be much lower now, so you can move around again without getting wet. In fact, in October you will almost certainly see humidity and November air will be very dry at the end of the month. Like spring, the days are getting nice, not too hot or too cold. Without moisture, tolerance will increase more rapidly, eventually turning into winter in the cold morning hours.

Winter temperatures range from 30 to 50 on average, with a brief period below freezing. Winters are good in Fort Sill. The days are getting darker, but not too cold. These moments cannot be solved by a few layers. It gets colder in the mornings, so be prepared. But lunchtime isn't a big deal for most people. The chance of rain drops to 9% in January and is at its lowest. Don't expect snow at Fort Sill, although a few days here and there are still possible. You get between 8-9 hours of daylight here and the sun rises somewhere around 0800.

Expect it to be perfect most of the year except for hot summer days and cold winter days. Summer is probably your biggest nuisance, with the extreme heat and humidity just getting outside to exercise can make you sweat. Stay hydrated with plenty of electrolytes and use sunscreen, especially on days when the clouds don't appear. In the winter
